RELEASING THE DOVE IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD - For never a man spake like this man. Tonight at Family Worship Center, Pastor Tim Hill, the General Overseer of the Church of God, of Cleveland Tennessee reads Matthew 21:8-17 preaching on the final week of Jesus’ life before going to the Cross. Showing a comparison to the colt i.e., donkey that would be the vehicle of Christ coming into Jerusalem was tied up; similarly, we find many believers in the church “tied up” in false doctrines and unbelief. The unridden colt was used for Jesus instead of its mother, symbolizing that the Old Covenant was fulfilled in Christ, who is the New Covenant. The people laid down their coats as a sign of laying aside our old identity, for we are a new creation in Christ. The palm branches were waived in a victorious celebration, as Jesus Christ deserves the highest praise. In the temple, His final stop before the Cross, Jesus showed forth a righteous anger for the hypocrisy of the moneychangers and turned over the seats of those who were selling the doves. In the bible the dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, which represents power, purity, and peace. The Holy Spirit must not be held captive, but released, so Jesus Christ and His finished work will be exalted.
